This morning, I told myself, “I will roll out those slabs of clay to make those tumblers I have thought about for the last two months”. The morning is hot, our second heat wave week this month, so I better get out early, I need to be careful my clay doesn’t dry out too fast. With animals and garden attended, still in my pyjamas, I head out to the box of clay before my eagerness subsides. Floating my morning away in the big blue ocean on the first day of the year. Embracing the lapping waves over my light body, taking in this moment to thank the year that has been, for all the lessons, love and beauty.  As I reflect I feel that, actually it was a sweet, quiet and inward year in learning and loving myself more. A year of garden meditations, flowers in my hair, rivers under my feet and mud in my hands. 2023 felt very much like a recovery and a deep connection. I took time away from everything I knew…

Sunflowers are finally bursting open in my garden. With their giant sun filled faces smiling at me from the back deck. The whole patch holds about 10, 5 foot tall stems and 3 of them look like they will grow 5 heads on each one! Not as large as last year but definitely just as beautiful. My mornings start early here, with the duck calls around 6:30am and I m usually attending them by 7am.
