Advent Adventures

This year we decided to celebrate Advent. Advent is the ancient traditional count down to The coming of the Light, a time of stillness, peace, love and for us as a family to share and celebrate together.

I wanted a way in which we could all participate in the gift of giving, creating, sharing and celebrating mindfully as a family.

Instead of counting down on a calender and only recieving gifts for each day, we decided on a morning ritual and wanted a calender to open, with each day bringing new and exciting ideas of kindness, giving, togetherness and creativity.

I searched around and found inspiration from this on Mindful MamaAdvent in our Home.

We really loved her scroll idea.

I carefully constructed a list that I knew would work well in our everyday routine over the next 24 days and cut each one out.

I rolled each activity into a scroll, tied it off and wrote the number of the day on the outside so we know what ones to read when.

We open one scroll everyday and follow the instructions.

We display every scroll as we have done the activity to remind us of the countdown.

Advent can be celebrated for many different reasons and in many different ways. At Rainbow Hollow this year, we have been having such fun connecting as a family every morning and waiting in anticipation of our next activity.
