Week 2 – Detox!

Rainbow Pammy in Bow Pose (DHANURASANA)

The name of the game for this week’s challenge is to bring it out, sweat it out, wear it out!

Open the mind, the heart, the pours and detoxify. This doesn’t just mean your body, your gut and your skin, although still part of the important process. We want to drain ourselves of all toxins, toxins like hatred, poisons relationships and negative thoughts. Lets sweat them all out to rebirth the true, beautiful self.

The traditional medicine of India, Ayurveda, believes that we consume with all five of our senses and not just with our mouth. We need to choose things that our body , mind and spirit can easily digest.

By allowing toxic relationships, thoughts and actions to surround our being, we are ultimately causing harm and ill health.

Starting from the moment you awake, have a positive image, Affirmation, proverb or photo next to your bed and as you rise, before any other thoughts arrise, smile at this image. Waking with a positive mind is a good way to engage  the brain and set intentions for the day. Include affirmations and uplifting, personal mantras to your morning ritual, journal entries and daily asana practice. Breathing in health and self love, exhaling peace and gratitude.

Up the ante on your asana practice by adding extra sun salutes or practicing surya namaska B for a few rounds. We really want to work up a sweat. Here are some good detoxifying poses you can add to your daily practise to help detoxify and cleanse the internal organs.
