A New Season and a New Perspective

As spring comes alive here in Australia we start to slowly awaken from our cold, dark inward selves, after the long hibernating winter.

Laying dormant and cold for so long has brought a new and bright outlook to our days and our selves.

Our smiles start to unravel, lifting from the corners of our mouths, our eyes begin to blink and brighten as the sun starts to warm and use its magic photosynthetic powers to awaken the planet and the powers of the healing happy sun shine starts to glow in our hearts and warm our bones.

With all this new growth sprouting from our joints and minds a new and more open perspective of life blooms. Awakening our creative minds and energetic vibrations.

Spring is a great time to clean out the negative, reconnect and reinvent.

Today with my after school Rainbow Yogis we spent the class welcoming in the sun with an energetic sun dance and decided that if we wake up every morning and Salute the sun three times it may just brighten our day. We grew blooming lotus flower circles to focus on our new growth, exploded our love and excitement with volcano pose to share our happiness and goodness with the rest of the world and used these positive energies to open up our grateful project.

During Shavasana, we imagined an opening flower in our hearts and with every breathe a petal would open, finally revealing a beautiful, smiling face in the middle. The face was our own. As we breathed our flower grew tall, looking over a meadow of golden daffodils. Our shining, magical selves stretched out high above them all feeling safe, warm, loved and happy.

We then awoke to a beautiful story written by my favourite author and activist Alice Walker. There is a flower at the tip of my nose smelling me. A story that gives everyone a new perspective on life and at how we can see things in a different light. A beautiful celebration of the connections and interconnections between self nature and creativity.

Spring is a time where we can start to see the world and our place in it through new eyes.

Enjoy the sun and love your selves, you are truly a miracle.

Namaste.
